
Riders Fall 5-2 in Final Game of Home Stand

FRISCO, TEXAS (APRIL 26, 2015) - The Frisco RoughRiders (5-11) entered Sunday's contest looking to get back on track during the final game of the home stand after dropping both games in Saturday's doubleheader. Carlos Correa hit a three run shot in the fifth inning as the Corpus Christi Hooks cruised to a 5-2 win.
Riders third baseman Joey Gallo registered his first hit of the season in his second game after returning from a minor ankle surgery. Gallo finished with two hits, including a double off the left field wall in the sixth inning.
Alec Asher made his fourth start of the season for Frisco looking for his first win. All was well through four innings for the right-hander but the fifth saw Correa put one just over the left field scoreboard for his second homerun of the series giving Corpus Christi a 5-1 lead. Asher was finished after 4 2/3 innings, allowing five runs (four earned) on six hits while striking out five in the losing effort.
Hooks starter Mike Hauschild pitched five strong innings picking up his second win of the season. The right-hander allowed just one run when Nomar Mazara, celebrating his 20th birthday, knocked a game tying two-out single to score Chris Garia.
Cody Kendall pitched 1 1/3 innings of hitless ball in relief for the Riders. The right-hander was making his third appearance in four games since being placed on the Frisco roster. Frisco catcher Jorge Alfaro shined behind the dish as he gunned down both attempting Hooks base stealers. He also added an RBI-single in the eighth inning to make it 5-2 as Frisco attempted the comeback rally.
Lance McCullers pitched the final four innings for the Hooks, earning his first save in the final game of the four-game series. McCullers allowed one unearned run while striking out a blistering nine Riders to finish off the 5-2 series sweeping victory for the Corpus Christi Hooks.
The Riders will look to end the six-game losing skid on the road. The team travels to San Antonio to face the Missions on Monday at 7:05 p.m. Frisco sends LHP Andrew Faulkner (1-1) to the mound while RHP Colin Rea (0-1) gets the nod for the Missions.
