STJ 5 vs RCH 2

Christian Thomas and Sven Andrighetto each notched a pair of goals as St. John's downed the Rochester Americans 5-2 in the IceCaps 2015-16 home opener. Zach Fucale stopped 31 of 33 shots to register his first pro win in his first pro start.

Saturday, Oct. 17

STJ 6 vs RCH 2

Rookie centre Michael McCarron notched his first pro goal and added two more for his first hat trick as the IceCaps thumped the Americans 6-2 Saturday night at Mile One Centre. With the win, the IceCaps swept the two-game series.

3 THINGS TO KNOW

Another Weekend of Firsts: On Friday night, goalie Zach Fucale posted his first pro win in his pro debut as St. John's downed Rochester 5-2 in the IceCaps home opener. Not to be outdone, rookie centre Michael McCarron recorded his first pro goal and added two more to register his first pro hat trick as the IceCaps thumped the Americans 6-2 a night later .

Eric the Great: The IceCaps signed rugged forward Eric Neilson to a 25-game PTO last week. Neilson is a one-time winner and seven-time nominee for AHL Man of the Year honours.

Welcome Back: Binghamton is in town for a pair of games this week (Tuesday and Wednesday) and bring with them a pair of forwards well-known to local hockey fans - Colin Greening and Eric O'Dell. The former is a St. John's native, while the latter spent parts of the previous four seasons with the IceCaps.
