Ricky Foley named Gibson's Finest CFL Canadian Player of the Month

(Vancouver) The Canadian Football League announced winners of the Gibson's Finest Player of the Month awards this morning with Lions defensive end Ricky Foley picking up Canadian Player of the Month honours.

Foley came up huge for the Lions during the month of September, racking up nine tackles along with four sacks which were enough to vault him into a tie for the CFL sack lead with nine on the season.

The fourth-year Leo enjoyed a career performance versus Toronto in Week 12 with three sacks and seven defensive tackles to lead the Lions defence to a 23-17 victory over the Argos. Foley was also the runner up in the Defensive Player of the Week category.

Gibson's Finest Player of the Month awards are selected by a panel of judges - former Canadian Football League players Matt Dunigan and Duane Forde, now of TSN, and Pierre Vercheval of RDS.
