TONIGHT'S GAMES: The second and third of a three game series and the second and third of six meetings here. The fourth and fifth of 12 meetings, Braves are 0-3 vs. the Mud Hens. This is the fourth and fifth of 13 straight home games for the Braves (0-3). Richmond was 7-5 vs. Toledo last season, 4-2 at The Diamond. The Braves are 8-17 vs. the West Division, 3-8 at The Diamond. The Braves are fourth in the South, 19 games out of first. The Hens are first in the West, four games up on Columbus. Richmond has lost seven straight games. That equals a season high. It is the second time this season the Braves have dropped seven in a row. They have also lost nine of their last 10. The Braves are 379-321 all-time vs. the Mud Hens who are the decendants of the Richmond Virginians.

THE ROSTER: Atlanta has re-called 3B Andy Marte. The active roster now stands at 23 (12 pitchers, two catchers, four infielders, and five outfielders with two players on the DL). The Braves have made 79 roster moves this season and lost 202 man-games to the disabled list. Nine Braves have earned big league call-ups this season and five are currently with Atlanta (Marte, Roman Colon, Kyle Davies, Kelly Johnson, and John Foster). The other four big league call-ups were Frank Brooks, Matt Childers, Seth Greisinger, and Brayan Pena. Nine Braves have been placed on the DL this season. Wednesday Atlanta officially announced the sale of RHP Seth Greisinger's contract to the Kia Tigers of the Korean Baseball Association.

HENS DIG THE LONG BALL: The four home runs hit by the Mud Hens Wednesday equals a season high vs. the Braves. The nine runs produced by homers is a season high. Richmond pitchers have allowed seven home runs in the last two games after allowing just three in the previous 18 games. Braves starters have surrendered four homers in the last two games. Starters had allowed only one home run over the previous 20 games. The last time the Braves allowed more than one home run in a game prior to July 5 was June 15. The Hens 16 hits also equaled a season high.

THE NUMBER CRUNCH: Richmond is in a stretch of 39 straight games vs. American League affiliates. Braves pitchers will not have to hit again in a game until Saturday. The Braves are 17-40 vs. American League affiliates. Andy Marte's seven game hitting streak ended Wednesday. Brayan Pena's five game hitting streak ended Wednesday. Kerry Robinson has hits in four straight games (5-16 .313). John Barnes has hits in four straight games (6-16 .375). James Jurries is 17 for his last 40 (.425). Bill McCarthy snapped an 0-28 slump with an RBI single Wednesday. The Braves are last in the IL in batting average, runs, home runs, strikeouts, and walks issued. Esix Snead leads the IL in stolen bases. Recent R-Braves acquisition Kerry Robinson still leads the PCL in steals with 26. A streak of four straight games in which Braves starting pitchers allowed three or fewer runs ended Wednesday. Braves starters have allowed three or less in 15 of the last 21 games. Scott Pratt started Wednesday's game at first base. He has now started a game at every position except pitcher and catcher this season. Jason Bourgeois is 5 for his last 12. Esix Snead has scored runs in three straight games. The Braves have scored three runs in three games vs. Toledo.
