SIOUX CITY, Iowa - Danny Richar found the perfect time for his fourth home run of the season, and Casey Barnes tossed a gem in Kansas City's 4-0 win over Sioux City Tuesday night at Lewis & Clark Park.
The T-Bones got the scoring started in the second inning with an RBI double off the bat of Nick Schwaner that scored Vladimir Frias. That would've been enough, but in the next inning, Richar launched a three-run homer off of Sioux City starter Greg Holt (3-8), scoring Robby Kuzdale and David Espinosa. Kuzdale was the only hitter for the T-Bones with a multi-hit game, including his 10th double of the season.
The 4-0 lead was all that Kansas City's starter Barnes (2-0) needed as he cruised through 7 shutout innings. Barnes allowed just six total baserunners and struck out five before turning the ball over to Kris Regas. Regas, who was announced Monday as a pitcher on the American Association's South All-Star team, pitched 2 scoreless innings in a non-save situation.
The T-Bones (28-30) look to take the series win Wednesday night against Sioux City (25-33) at 7:05. All of the action can be heard on 1660-AM or online at tbonesbaseball.com.
