
Richardson to Coach in Arizona Fall League

LAKEWOOD, NJ â The Philadelphia Phillies have announced that Lakewood BlueClaws hitting coach Eric Richardson has been selected to serve as a coach in the Arizona Fall League. Richardson will serve as the hitting coach for the Phoenix Desert Dogs in the six-team league that begins play on October 5.
Richardson is in his first year as a coach in the Phillies minor league system. He was selected by the White Sox in the fifth round of the 1991 draft and spent five years as an outfielder in the Chicago system. Richardson spent two years playing in the South Atlantic League for Hickory and posted a career best two home runs, 30 runs batted in and 42 stolen bases in the 1993 season.
Major league managers Dusty Baker, Mike Scioscia, Tony Pena, Terry Francona, Ken Macha, Bob Melvin and Al Pedrique have all been coaches in the Arizona Fall League over the course of its' 13-year history.
