Richardson Earns Player Of The Week Honours

Montreal, October 23, 2012 - Montreal Alouettes slotback Jamel Richardson has been named the CFL's offensive player of the week following his best performance of the season in a 34-28 win last Saturday over the Saskatchewan Roughriders at Mosaic Stadium. The win allowed Montreal to sweep the regular-season series between the two teams.

Richardson was Anthony Calvillo's favorite target as he reeled in a season-best eight catches for 161 yards. The 30-year-old averaged an impressive 20.1 yards per reception against the Riders as the Als improved to 10-6.

His longest reception came in the second quarter on a 51-yard catch and run to set up Montreal's first touchdown of the game. Richardson has now posted two straight 100-plus yard receiving games, nabbing 11 passes for 270 yards and one touchdown over that span.

Richardson led the league in receiving yards last season with 1,777 and now finds himself second on the team behind S.J. Green and ninth in the CFL with 954.

Next Game

The Montreal Alouettes host the Edmonton Eskimos on Sunday at Percival Molson Stadium at 1:00 p.m. (TSN, RDS, CJAD 800, Sirius 157 & 154 and 98,5 fm.).
