Calgary Stampeders News Release

Two members of the Calgary Stampeders have been honoured as Canadian Football League players of the week for their performance in Saturday's 34-32 victory over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

Keon Raymond is the defensive player of the week after returning an interception 100 yards for a touchdown in Saturday's contest. The versatile defender, who has made starts both at cornerback and strong-side linebacker this season, also had his first two sacks of the season and made a total of eight defensive tackles.

Meanwhile, running back Jon Cornish has been named the offensive player of the week after accumulating 133 yards from scrimmage and scoring a pair of touchdowns. Cornish is the CFL's leading rusher this season but on Saturday he did the majority of his damage as a receiver as he made seven catches for a career-high 108 yards and one touchdown. Cornish also had 27 rushing yards including a seven-yard touchdown run.

It's the seventh time this season Cornish has been named top Canadian and his eighth weekly award overall in 2012.

This marks the third occasion this season multiple Stampeders have been honoured in the same week. In Week 7, Cornish earned top offensive player and top Canadian honours while Larry Taylor was recognized as special teams player of the week. In Week 9, Charleston Hughes (defensive player) and Cornish (top Canadian) got the nod.

The Stampeders (10-6) return to action on Saturday when they face the BC Lions (12-4) at McMahon Stadium. Tickets are available at Stampeders.com
