RHP Griffen Bailey To Join New York Yankee's Organization

SIOUX CITY, IA - The Sioux City Explorers announced today that The New York Yankee's have purchased the contract of Explorers RHP Griffin Bailey. Bailey will report to the Yankee's Single -A affiliate in Staten Island, NY, a member of the New York Penn League.

Bailey, 24, has appeared in (7) games with the X's this season and was 1-1 with a 2.08 ERA in 17.1 innings of work. In his (7) appearances, Bailey has struck out 15 batters and allowed 8 walks while holding opponents to a .246 batting average against.

The X's acquired Bailey prior to the 2009 season in a trade with the Southern Illinois Miners of the Frontier League. Bailey was a member of the Miners for two seasons (2007 & 2008) and posted 5-5 record with a 2.79 ERA in 2008, while striking out (44) batters and only allowing (10) walks in 2008 with the Miners. Prior to joining the Miners in 2007, Bailey was in Greenville, SC for the 2006 season where he accumulated a 0-1 record with a 4.50 ERA in only (5) innings of work.
