The Chicago Cubs have made the following roster moves that impact the Myrtle Beach Pelicans roster:
RHP Erick Leal has been transferred to the Myrtle Beach Pelicans from Extended Spring Training
RHP Erling Moreno has been placed on the 7-day Injured List
Leal, a 24-year-old pitcher, makes his first start of the season with the Pelicans today. Leal pitched with the Pelicans in 2016 and again in 2018. After recording a 1.41 ERA in 63.2 innings with the Pelicans in 2018, his 2.50 ERA with Myrtle Beach is fifth in franchise history. Last season, he held opponents to a .156 average while striking out 61 and walking 17. On February 18, 2013, he was traded to the Cubs from the Diamondbacks along with RHP Jesus Castillo for CF Tony Campana.
Leal will wear No. 57.
The Pelicans roster now sits at 25 active players with six players on the Injured List.
