Charlotte Knights News Release

(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) - RHP Chris Beck, who is ranked by Baseball America as the number 11 prospect in Chicago's system, had his contract purchased by the White Sox to serve as the team's 26th player for game two of their doubleheader against the Cincinnati Reds today. Beck becomes the fourth Charlotte Knights pitcher promoted to Chicago this season joining LHP Carlos Rodon, RHP Scott Carroll, and RHP Daniel Webb.

A native of Commerce, GA, Beck posted a 1-1 mark with a 4.78 ERA in five starts for the Knights this season. He last pitched for the Knights back on May 2 at BB&T Ballpark and earned his first win of the season with six solid innings (6.0 IP, 8 H, 2 ER, 0 BB, 4 SO) against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Today's promotion to Chicago is the first for the Georgia Southern University product. Last season, Beck earned Birmingham Barons Pitcher of the Year honors after posting a 5-8 mark with a 3.39 ERA. He went on to post a 1-3 mark with a 4.05 ERA in seven games with the Knights last season.

Originally selected by the White Sox in the second round of the 2012 draft, Beck combined to post a 13-10 mark with a 3.07 ERA in 26 starts between Winston-Salem (A+) and Birmingham (AA) in 2013. He tied for the Carolina League lead in wins (11), and ranked fifth in ERA (3.11). Overall, he went 11-8 with a 3.11 ERA in 21 starts for the Dash, and 2-2 with a 2.89 ERA in five starts for the Barons that season.

Earlier in the day, the Knights placed outfielder Matt Tuiasosopo on the temporary inactive list. Charlotte's active roster is now at 23.
