Frederick Keys News Release
The Keys ended their four-game losing streak on Easter Sunday as they defeated the Lynchburg Hillcats, 2-1. Frederick followed RHP Bobby Bundy's impressive outing to their first win over Lynchburg in 2011. Bundy threw six scoreless innings en route to his first Carolina League victory. He also struck out a career-high nine batters in the win. The Keys improved to 6-9 on the season following Sunday's victory.
Bundy began racking up strikeouts immediately on Sunday afternoon. The Owasso, Oklahoma native struck out seven Hillcats through his first three innings of work. The Keys gave Bundy some run support in the third inning following some Lynchburg hiccups in the field.
With two out and 2B Michael Rooney on first, LF LJ Hoes hit a hard groundball to the left side of the infield off LHP Dimasther Delgado. Hillcats SS Andrelton Simmons came up with the ball but over shot 1B Joseph Terdoslavich. Hoes was credited with an infield single but he and Rooney advanced to second and third via the error. After DH Tyler Kolodny was intentionally walked, 1B Tyler Townsend chopped a grounder between first and second. Rooney scored on the play but Hoes was caught between third and home. Terdoslavich fired home but his throw sailed over C Braedan Schlehuber's as Hoes easily scored on the error.
The two runs scored in the third were all the Keys would need. Bundy tossed three more scoreless innings to close out his day.
DH Adam Milligan hit a solo home run to leftfield in the top of the eighth but RHP Sean Gleason came in to close out the games final 1 1/3 innings for his second save of the year.
Dimasther Delgado got the loss for Lynchburg. He falls to 0-3 on the season.
After 13 consecutive home games, the Keys hit the road on Monday to start up a four-game series against the Winston-Salem Dash. Frederick will turn to RHP Jacob Rasner (1-1, 6.30) while the Dash will send RHP Terry Doyle (0-1, 3.60) to the hill. First pitch is set for 7:00 p.m. at BB&T Ballpark in Winston-Salem, NC.
