THE HILLCATS: Saturday the Hillcats swept the double-header against the Frederick Keys...After losing 10 in a row, the 'Cats have now won three straight...The double-header made up for Friday's rain postponed game...Lynchburg sits in fourth place in the Carolina League Northern Division at 4-10...

VS. FREDERICK: The Hillcats are now 3-0 vs the Frederick Keys in 2011 and will look to take a four game sweep on the road today...In 2010, Lynchburg lost the season series 8-12...However, the Hillcats have switched affiliations since last season...The Myrtle Beach Pelicans (2010 Braves Advance-A affiliate) split the season series with the Keys 10-10...

LET'S PLAY TWO: Saturday was the first double-header of the season for the Hillcats and the fourth already for the Frederick Keys...It was the second time that Frederick had been swept in a double-header this year (SAL 4/17), and they are yet to sweep one themselves as they split the other two...

CHICKS MUST DIG THE HILLCATS: Lynchburg leads the Carolina league with 13 home runs through their first 14 games of the season...Adding five more tape measure shots in three games against Frederick this weekend...The team also happens to be hittting .230 as a unit, good for 7th in the CL...Not suprising that nine of the blasts have been solo shots (although six have led off innings)...The 'Cats also have two two-run bombs, and one three-run...The team is still waiting on it's first grand slam...

MUST BE THE LUCK OF THE IRISH: The Hillcats snapped a 10-game losing streak Thursday in their alternate green road uniforms...Sticking with the go ju-ju, the Hillcats rocked the green uni's in both games of their Saturday double-header and swept the double dip...Overall the team is 3-1 wearing the their greens...

DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS: The Hillcats played flawless defense through both games on Saturday and came out on top in two low scoring affairs (3-0, 2-1)...On the season still, the Hillcats have committed 22 errors through their first 14 games...That's the most in the league by five (Kinston 17)... Their .958 fielding percentage is the only team fielding percentage below .970 in the league...The errors have not gone unpunished either, as the Hillcats staff has surrendered 20 unearned runs, also most in CL and nine more than Wilmington and Kinston tied with second most...15 of the errors have come up the middle of the infield...Andrelton Simmons is responsible for seven miscues at shortstop in 13 games, and Matt Weaver in his one game at short added another error to the position as well as one at second base...The other six errors up the middle have come at the expense of Phil Gosselin at second base...

FOR STARTERS: LHP Chris Masters and LHP Matt Crim were both primarily starters in 2010 but began 2011 working from the bullpen...Both were given the opportunity to start one end of the double-header Saturday and performed with flying colors...They combined for 10.2 scoreless innings and each earned their first wins of the season...Masters started in the place of the injured RHP Cory Rasmus, while Crim started where RHP Willie Kempf (0-1, 14.04) would have been slotted to pitch...

BEST OF THE BRAVOS: Eight members of the Hillcats are ranked amongst the top 30 prospects in the Braves organization according to Baseball America...That list includes RHP Arodys Vizcaino (7), SS Andrelton Simmons (15), RHP David Hale (17), RHP Dimasther Delgado (18), OF Todd Cunningham (20), OF Adam Milligan (22), INF Joe Leonard (23) and 2B Phil Gosselin (25)...Vizcaino was tabbed the 93rd best prospect in all of baseball by BA as well...

BACK TO BUSINESS: The Hillcats 2011 Manager Luis Salazar made his triumphant return to managing last Friday night in the Hillcats home opener...Rick Albert had been filling in as Interim Manager for the first five games of the season...Media swarmed the Hill City including, ESPN.com, Sports Illustrated, The Associated Press, The Atlanta Journal Constitution, WSET ABC 13 Lynchburg, WDBJ 7 Roanoke, WSLS 10 Roanoke, and The News & Advance...The Hillcats went 0-5 in their opening Homestand and were outscored 52-18...Leaving the media circus behind, the Hillcats are 3-1 on their current road trip losing to Salem in a 5-4 game in which the 'Cats led twice and snapped their 10-game losing streak with a 9-1 route of the Frederick Keys followed by sweeping a double-header against the Key on Saturday...

A STREAK ENDS: INF Joey Terdoslavich snapped his seven game hitting streak in game two of the double header Saturday...He hit .429 (12-for-28) during the streak with six home runs, two doubles, and eight RBI...He raised his batting average from .053 (1-for-19) to .277 (13-for-47) during the seven game stretch...

TODAY'S OPPOSING PITCHER: RHP Bobby Bundy was selected in the 8th round of the 2008 draft out of Sperry (OK) High School...Bundy spent 2010 with Class-A Delmarva where he led the Shorebirds in ERA (2.65), innings pitched (116.0), and strikeouts (91)...He was the only Shorebird to toss a complete game and the only Bluefield (Rookie) starter to do so in 2009...With Bluefield in 2009, he tied for second-most starts at 12...In two prior starts this season he has thrown seven innings, giving up six runs (four earned), on 10 hits, no walks, while striking out six...
