Myrtle Beach Pelicans News Release
RHP Ryan Kelly (0-0, 4.50) at RHP Brett Brach (0-1, 1.80)
- OFFENSIVE MATERIAL: Myrtle Beach's surging offense again pounded out season-high numbers against the Indians Saturday night while cruising to an 11-2 victory in game three of a four-game set. The Pelicans matched a season best with 11 runs and set a new 2011 best with 16 hits. The rout could have been worse, as well, with the Birds leaving 11 runners on base. The Pelicans batted 22 times with runners in scoring position and converted seven hits in such situations (.318).
OFFENSIVE MATERIAL, PART II: Saturday's offensive outburst was spread throughout the Myrtle Beach lineup. All nine Pelicans hitters recorded at least one hit, and six starters posted multi-hit games led by Zach Zaneski's three-hit, three-RBI game. Only Jared Hoying, Santiago Chirino, and Friday night star Travis Adair fell short of multiple hits on the evening. Everyone but speedster Leury Garcia scored a run on the night as well with outfielder Jared Prince leading the way, crossing home plate three times.
LIKE A PRINCE: Speaking of Prince, the Pelicans outfielder from Washington State University appears to be finding his stroke toward the end of the season's first month. After starting the season with two hits in his first 33 at-bats, (.061), Prince now has four hits in his last 16 trips to the plate (.250) including knocks in back-to-back games for the first time this year and a 2-for-4 night on Saturday. The Kingston, Washington resident added an RBI in addition to his three runs scored in game three of Myrtle Beach's series at Kinston.
