Bryant Nelson's tenth inning sacrifice fly completed a six-run comeback for the York Revolution, who set a club record by earning their 72nd victory of the season in a 7-6 walk-off win over the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs at Sovereign Bank Stadium on Saturday evening. The game was played in front of 7,026 fans, the season's biggest crowd and the fifth largest regular season crowd in ballpark history. The Revs wrap up the regular season's home schedule on Sunday at 1 p.m. on Fan Appreciation Day.

Trailing 6-0 after the top of the fourth, the Revs erupted for five runs in the bottom half before finally pulling even in the sixth on an RBI ground rule double to left-center by Octavio Martinez. The comeback was the Revs' biggest of the season, and tied the biggest in stadium history.

Southern Maryland built their lead with three runs in the second on an RBI single to left by Jeremy Owens, a sacrifice fly to center from Tanner Townsend, and a run scored by Ben Harrison on a passed ball. Travis Garcia added a solo homerun to left field in the third inning, while Adam Godwin and David Espinosa each rapped RBI singles in the fourth inning before the Blue Crabs topped out. Revs starter Nick Schumacher suffered his roughest outing in four starts with York, but with the bases loaded and one out in the fourth, struck out third-place hitter Brian Barton and retired Garcia, the cleanup hitter, on a foul popup to limit the damage to a 6-0 score.

Blue Crabs starter Ben Moore did not allow a hit through the first three innings, retiring nine of the first ten batters he faced, but opened the fourth inning with three consecutive walks before the Revs followed with three consecutive RBI singles from Chris Nowak, Nelson, and Vince Harrison slicing the deficit in half. Moore then hit Liubiemithz Rodriguez with a pitch forcing in another run to make it 6-4 before being lifted. Scott Grimes later ripped an RBI single to left to cap the five-run inning and pull York within a single run.

Harrison drew a leadoff walk in the bottom of the sixth and advanced to second on an errant pickoff throw by reliever Charlie Manning setting the table for Martinez to tie the game with his double off fellow relief pitcher Steve Palazzolo. After surrendering the double to his first batter faced, Palazzolo settled in to retire the next 11 hitters in order, working 3.2 innings in his longest outing of the season.

The Revs finally got to Palazzolo (9-5) in the bottom of the tenth, however, as Ramon Castro and Jose Herrera led off with singles. Closer Jim Ed Warden was brought in but hit Nowak with a pitch to load the bases with no outs. With five infielders playing on the edge of the grass, Nelson got a ball air-born to deep right, plating Castro with the game-winner.

The Revs bullpen combined for six shutout innings allowing just one hit. R.J. Rodriguez (3-3) picked up the victory posting the final 1.2 innings.

Notes: The 72 wins come in just 123 games; York's previous record of 71 wins came in 140 contests in 2008. The walk-off victory was York's seventh of the season. The Revs hadn't come back from down six runs at home since July 8, 2007 against Bridgeport. York improves to 5-1 in extra inning games on the season, 4-0 at home. The Revs tied a club record with 16 strikeouts as a pitching staff, matching the mark set on May 27, 2007 against the Road Warriors. Revs pitchers have struck out 27 Blue Crabs in 19 innings in the series, while York's bullpen has fanned 20 in 12.2 innings and has combined to allow just one unearned run in the two games. York's winning run in the tenth inning marked the Revs' first lead in the series. The Revs will send lefty Jino Gonzalez (1-1, 6.19) to the hill in Sunday's finale, opposite Blue Crabs ace Nick Green (10-6, 3.88). It is the final Autograph Sunday of the season with Catch on the Field presented by Runkle's Notary, Shurfine Baseball Bingo, and Postgame Kids Run the Bases presented by rabbittransit. There's also a "Hat Off Your Head" Auction presented by People's Bank, benefiting York County Libraries. Tickets are available at YorkRevolution.com, (717) 801-HITS and in-person at the Apple Chevrolet Ticket Office.
