York Revolution News Release
The York Revolution enjoyed a big offensive eruption taking the opening game of their doubleheader in Camden on Saturday, 11-2 over the Riversharks.
York scored in each of the first four innings, building an 11-0 lead through four.
Jeff Fiorentino drove in the game's first run on a two-out single in the first, and Andres Perez picked up an RBI on a fielder's choice in the second to make it 2-0.
The Revs scored five times in the third thanks to six consecutive singles, distancing themselves early. Manny Mayorson, Patrick Arlis, and Eric Patterson ripped consecutive RBI singles, and Perez put the capper on the rally with a two-run single to right.
An inning later, Patterson lined a grand slam over the fence in right, and the rout was on.
Revs starter Rick Zagone (1-0) was the beneficiary of the run support, allowing just two hits in five scoreless innings for his first win.
Camden scored a run in the sixth on an RBI single up the middle by Juan Martinez, and another in the seventh on a groundout by Wilson Valdez to provide the final scoring.
CODY COMPLETES ANOTHER MASTERPIECE AS REVS SWEEP TWINBILL
Chris Cody became the first in York Revolution history to toss back-to-back complete game wins, firing a four-hitter and blanking the Camden Riversharks 5-0 in the nightcap of Saturday's doubleheader in front of 5,013 fans at Campbell's Field.
Cody's complete game shutout is just the fifth in Revs history, as he is now tied for the league lead with six victories. He has allowed just two runs in 21.2 innings with just one walk, winning his last three starts.
The Revs offense again provided an early edge, scoring a first inning run on an RBI double to deep center by Andy Marte as the Revs scored the game's first run for the seventh consecutive contest. Manny Mayorson drove in another run in the second on a fielder's choice. The rest of York's offense came on a sacrifice fly to center by Cody Johnson in the fifth, and a two-run homer to deep right by Eric Patterson in the sixth, as the Revs' leadoff man homered in both games of the twinbill. It was his seventh home run in the last 15 games, as he also extended his hitting streak to 10 consecutive games.
Cody (6-2) took care of the rest, allowing just four hits and one walk while striking out five.
The doubleheader sweep was just the third on the road in club history and first since May 6, 2011 in Camden when Cody earned the first win of his Revs career. Saturday's win was his 25th in a Revolution uniform, second-most all-time.
The Revs have now won a club record-tying five straight on the road, and will go for a second consecutive road series sweep on Sunday at 1:35 p.m. when Brett Tomko (1-4, 4.68) faces Jeff Farnsworth (1-0, 5.24) in the finale. Revs fans can catch the action live on SportsRadio 1350, YorkRevolution.com, and on the Shoutcast phone app (YorkRevs) beginning at 1:15 p.m. with Darrell Henry on the call.
