Revs prepare to make first preseason trip of the year

Revs' 2008 Schedule Released

On Thursday, Feb. 7, the New England Revolution announced its 2008 regular-season schedule, a 30-game slate that begins March 29 and ends on Oct. 25 ... the Revs will have 18 of their 30 matches televised nationally, with six ESPN Primetime Thursday matches, four exclusive Fox Soccer Channel/Fox Soccer en Español telecasts, six HDNet broadcasts and two TeleFutura matches ... twenty (20) of the Revs' matches - including those with national broadcasts on HDNet and Telefutura - will be televised by the team's exclusive regional partner, TV38 (WSBK-TV) ... while the Revs will play six of their first 10 matches away from Gillette Stadium to open the season, the team will close the campaign with five of their last nine at home, including a Saturday, Aug. 30 match against the Los Angeles Galaxy.

New England One of Four MLS SuperLiga Participants

Also on Thursday, Feb. 7, Major League Soccer announced that the Revolution is one of four MLS teams that will participate in the second-annual SuperLiga, the U.S.-Mexico club tournament featuring a $1 million grand prize for the winner ... the Revs will play just one MLS game in July to clear schedule room for SuperLiga ... MLS will release full details of SuperLiga, as well as the Mexican club-team participants, in the coming weeks.

Revs Launch "Countdown to First Kick" Grassroots Tour

The Revs announced the launch of its "Countdown to First Kick" Tour, a series of free interactive and fan-friendly events leading up the Revs' 2008 home opener - Major League Soccer's First Kick - at Gillette Stadium on Saturday, March 29, against the Houston Dynamo in a rematch of MLS Cup 2007 ... the tour begins on Wednesday, Feb. 27, with a stop at the Topsfield Sports Arena in Topsfield Mass. On Saturday, March 8, the Revs will visit the Mansfield Sportsplex in Mansfield, Mass., before wrapping up the tour with a pair of stops on Sunday, March 9 in Framingham, Mass. (Suburban Athletic Club) and Hingham, Mass. (South Shore Sports Center) ... admission to all four tour stops is free of charge ... more information on the tour - including directions to each location, registration forms and detailed prize descriptions - is available at www.revolutionsoccer.net.

CONCACAF Champions League Unveiled

The Confederation of North, Central American, Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) announced on Monday, Jan. 28, the new CONCACAF Champions League which will begin in August 2008 ... the new continental club championship will replace the CONCACAF Champions Cup ... 24 teams - including four from the U.S. - will participate in the event ... more information can be found at www.concacaf.com.

Fox Soccer Channel to Televise Season Opener

When the Revs host the Houston Dynamo in an MLS First Kick match on Saturday, March 29, Fox Soccer Channel will be the exclusive national television outlet for the game ... the game is a rematch of MLS Cup 2007, in which the Dynamo earned a 2-1 victory over the Revs to repeat as MLS champions ... the match on March 29 marks the first time that the Revolution has hosted a season-opening match in the club's now 13-year history.

From Boston: Take Rt. 128 or Rt. 95 to Rt. 1 south in Norwood. Follow Rt. 1 south into Foxboro (DO NOT take Pine St. exit in Walpole!). Go PAST Gillette Stadium and take a right at next traffic light (Pine St. exit, Lafayette House restaurant and Seasonal Specialty Store on right). Follow exit road to end and make a right onto Pine St (Rt. 115). Go less than 2 miles and Fore Kicks will be on your left hand side.

From Rt. 495 Northbound: Take Rt. 495 North to Rt. 1 north into Foxboro and follow to Pine St. exit traffic light (Seasonal Specialty Store Plaza on left). Make a left and follow exit road to end and make a right onto Pine St (Rt. 115). Go less than 2 miles and Fore Kicks will be on your left hand side.

From Rt. 495 Southbound: Take Rt. 495 South to Rt. 1A (Wrentham Outlets exit). Turn left onto Rt. 1A (South St.) and follow (turns into Dedham St.) Rt. 1A thru Wrentham center. Stay on Rt. 1A (Dedham St.) and follow across Rt. 140. Go 1.5 miles to next traffic light, make a right onto Rt. 115 (Pine St.). Fore Kicks will be 100 yards down on your right hand side.
