The York Revolution jumped to a big early lead and Corey Thurman took care of the rest in a 7-3 victory over the Sugar Land Skeeters in front of 3,325 fans at Sovereign Bank Stadium on Wednesday evening. The Revs snap a two-game slide and even their series with Sugar Land, as they'll go for a series win when they close out the current seven-game homestand on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.

Thurman (4-5) was faced with a bases loaded, one-out jam in the top of the first, but struck out Aaron Bates looking and retired Koby Clemens on a fielder's choice grounder, denying Sugar Land the game's first score.

The Revs came out of the gates hot, batting around in their half of the first inning, and scoring four times. Eric Patterson led off with a double to right-center, and with one out, Andres Perez tagged a two-run homer to left-center to provide the early lead. With two outs, four consecutive singles would account for the second half of the rally, as Jeff Fiorentino, Salvador Paniagua, and Cody Johnson all singled to load the bases, and Ruddy Yan singled up the middle driving in two more to make it 4-0.

Patterson slammed a home run to dead center field leading off the second on the first pitch of the inning. Wilson Batista then doubled to right extending his hitting streak to 10 consecutive games, and with two outs scored on an infield single by Fiorentino to give York a 6-0 lead.

Patterson ignited things again in the fourth, leading off with a triple to right and scoring on an error by shortstop Domonic Ramos, handing the Revs a 7-0 lead. Patterson finished a single shy of the cycle and scored three times, as he has now hit safely in eight consecutive games.

Thurman took a shutout into the sixth for the second time in his last three starts. The only damage done against him came when Josh Pressley and Bates cracked consecutive doubles leading off the sixth, with Bates driving in Pressley and then scoring on a groundout by Ramos. Thurman gave up just two runs in 7.1 innings to earn the win, exiting to a standing ovation in the eighth.

Pressley and Bates teamed up on back-to-back doubles again in the eighth to cut York's lead to 7-3, but Michael Wuertz entered to record the final two outs leaving runners at the corners, before striking out the side in the ninth to earn his second save in as many appearances. Four of his five outs came on strikeouts.

Sugar Land starter Scott Elarton (3-4) was saddled with the loss, giving up all seven runs (six earned) in six innings.

The Revs out-hit the Skeeters 11-8 despite managing just one hit after the fourth inning. York pitchers held the bottom four hitters of Sugar Land's lineup hitless in 15 at-bats.

The win is the first for the Revs in five tries against the Skeeters this season.

The homestand concludes on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. as lefty Rick Zagone (0-0, 4.50) makes his second start for York, opposite Sugar Land's Adam Miller (1-1, 2.10). The night features an appearance by Superman, as well as a Revolution T-Shirt Giveaway presented by The Law Firm of Dale E. Anstine to the first 1,000 fans. Tickets are available at YorkRevolution.com, (717) 801-HITS, and in-person at the Apple Chevrolet Ticket Office.
