The York Revolution offense was frustrated in a 2-1 loss to the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs on Friday evening in front of 3,549 fans at Santander Stadium. The Revs drop two of three in their series to the Crabs, and will look to rebound with a three-game trip to Long Island before returning home on Tuesday night.

Blue Crabs starter Brad Meyers (2-2) entered the game with a 7.33 ERA but allowed just three hits over seven shutout innings, facing one batter over the minimum to earn the win.

Southern Maryland scored the game's first run in the top of the third on a two-out ground rule double to right-center by Luke Murton, then added another run on a two-out single to center by James Skelton in the sixth inning to take a 2-0 lead.

The Revs were unable to score until there were two outs in the ninth as Blue Crabs third baseman Angel Chavez committed a throwing error attempting to record the final out. The error scored Wilson Valdez who had drawn a leadoff walk and stolen second, bringing York within a run. Travis Garcia followed with a sharp ground ball toward the hole, but second baseman Jake Opitz made a sliding pick and threw to first for the final out, securing the second save for former Revs reliever Anthony Slama.

York starter Jorge Martinez (5-5) suffered the loss, charged with two runs in 5.2 innings of work.

The Revs were held to five total hits. Included in that total was a leadoff triple by Valdez in the fourth but Meyers came back to retire the next three batters. The Revs strung together back-to-back two-out singles by Ofilio Castro and Sean Smith in the eighth but were unable to cash in. Their other two base hits came from Smith in the third inning and Tim Battle in the seventh inning, but both runners were thrown out attempting to steal.

The Revs fall to 7-10 against the Blue Crabs for the season, one of just two opponents against which they have losing records.

Saturday's series opener at Long Island gets underway at 7:05 p.m. with Revs righty Corey Thurman (6-3, 3.71) facing Ducks right-hander John Brownell (10-6, 4.04). Revs fans can catch the action live on SportsRadio 1350, woyk1350.com, and on the WOYK mobile apps beginning at 6:45 p.m. with Darrell Henry on the call.
