Long Island Ducks News Release
(Camden, NJ) The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the Camden Riversharks 4-3 on Friday night in the final game of a three-game series at Campbell's Field.
Cody Puckett put the Ducks on top with a solo homer to left in the second inning off Riversharks starter Fu-Te Ni. Brian Van Kirk tied the score in the bottom of the frame on a RBI double to right-center off Ducks starter Mitch Talbot.
It stayed that way until the sixth when Brendan Harris launched a two-run homer to left field to put Long Island up 3-1. However, Camden rallied with three runs in the eighth on a two-run homer to left-center by Bryan Pounds and a RBI single by Jose Morales to take the lead for good.
Neither starter factored into the decision. Talbot tossed six innings, allowing just one run on four hits and two walks while striking out seven. Ni lasted seven innings, yielding three runs on seven hits with seven strikeouts. T.J. Hose (4-7) picked up the win with a scoreless inning of relief, walking two and striking out one. Eric Niesen (3-3) suffered the loss, surrendering a run on a hit and two walks in two-thirds of an inning. Matt Gorgen earned his 15th save of the year with a scoreless ninth inning.
Myers led the Flock with two hits, while Harris finished with two RBI.
The Ducks return home on Saturday to open a three-game series against the York Revolution. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m., with the Bethpage Ballpark gates opening at 6:05. It's Military Appreciation Night at the ballpark! Following the game, all fans in attendance will be treated to a Pyrotecnico Fireworks Extravaganza, presented by Northrop Grumman. In addition, Ducks staff members will be handing out coupons for $10 off a purchase of $50 or more at Dick's Sporting Goods following the fireworks show. Right-hander John Brownell takes the mound for the Ducks against Revolution righty Corey Thurman.
