New England Revolution News Release
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - Back up to third place in the Eastern Conference and currently occupying the eighth and final spot in the MLS Cup Playoffs, the New England Revolution looks to solidify its hold on a postseason berth when the club visits FC Dallas on Wednesday, Sept. 30, at the Cotton Bowl. The game will be televised live on Comcast Sports Net New England beginning at 7 p.m. ET, while live radio coverage for the match is to be announced.
The Revs (10-8-7, 37 pts.) snapped a three-game winless skid with a come-from-behind, 2-1 victory over Seattle Sounders FC last Saturday night, spurred on by the two-goal performance of Shalrie Joseph. The victory vaulted the Revolution into third place in the Eastern Conference, just four points behind second-place Chicago (10-6-11, 41 pts.), a team on which New England has two games in hand. FC Dallas (8-12-6, 30 pts.) - while not mathematically eliminated from the playoff race - is playing mostly for pride in its final four games of the season, but that hasn't stopped a recent resurgence which has seen the club go 2-1-0 with 11 goals scored in its last three games.
Originally scheduled to be played as a stand-alone game at FC Dallas' home field of Pizza Hut Park, Wednesday night's game will be played as the front end of a special doubleheader at the historic Cotton Bowl featuring the national teams of Mexico and Colombia. The Revs won't mind where the game is played as long as it's in Texas, where they have an overall record of 15-5-3 in all competitions.
