POSTGAME QUOTES: New England Revolution 1 vs. New York Red Bulls 1

Revolution Assistant Coach Richie Williams

On falling behind a goal early and equalizing quickly:

Williams: "It's obviously important that you go down a goal, give credit to the team, they didn't put their heads down and the guys kept playing and it was a nice goal we created and scored. Then unfortunately the rest of the game we had other opportunities that were just not clean enough in the final third or being able to get that goal that we need, obviously resulting in a bunch of these draws."

On Tommy McNamara's debut and Kekuta Manneh making the matchday squad:

Williams: "I thought Tommy did a good job. It's never easy coming into a new team. He's only trained with us a couple times. But Tommy's a good soccer player. I thought he did well helping us in the midfield with some of his passing, some of his combination play, getting the ball forward to our attacking players. So I thought he did a good job. He's been good in training. Kekuta's been good in training, too. Like you said obviously he didn't get into to the game, but he'll get an opportunity at some point."

On Henry Kessler's form:

Williams: "Again, a young player, first-year pro, and it's never easy. The game is much quicker, the decision making has to be quicker, and Henry's shown that he can come in and compete, and play well. He has played well. I think it was a tough game tonight from both our center backs in terms of the pressure they put on our center backs when they had the ball, and obviously when they win the ball they play it forward very quickly and try to create and put you under pressure. So we didn't do great on the first goal - sorry, the only goal that we gave up - but a couple other times I thought we could've been better centrally. But again, for a young player, Henry is playing well and we'll continue to watch his development."

On coming from behind but still only :

Williams: "I'm disappointed. I know the players are disappointed. We expect when we're at home to get three points, and I think we played well enough to get three points on the day. So it's disappointing. Now, you can take positives out of the game. Like you said, we were down a goal and came right back and scored the tying goal, but we just need to, again, with these opportunities that we are creating in the final third of the field, having the ability to take these opportunities and score goals so that we can come away with the three points. We didn't lose the game, but it's another draw, and we definitely need to be winning these games."

On Henry Kessler's distribution and ability on the ball:

Williams: "He's actually right footed, so he's playing left center back, and he's been able to pass fairly well with his left foot so that's obviously a bonus with him and for us. So yeah, he's able to play the ball up the field, play the ball into our midfield at times, and also play the ball in behind for our forwards."

Revolution Forward Gustavo Bou (Translated from Spanish)

On how he saw the match physically and emotionally:

Bou: "It was a good match. I thought we played well. It wasn't the result we were looking for at home. We knew they were a good team that likes to pressure. We knew it would be difficult. We played the crosses and we played the long ball. In the second half we tried to keep our rhythm. We had a few chances there at the end but ultimately we fell short."

On being persistent as a scorer and shooting frequently:

Bou: "It's the confidence from myself and from my teammates. Teal did what teammates are supposed to do and set up the player in the best position to score the goal. Honestly, he made the right decision and served a great pass for me to score the goal. I owe him 99 percent of the credit on that play and it's about being a team. I feel good because I scored in the last match too and I'm happy with the goal tonight. But ultimately we wanted three points at home."

On chemistry with Adam Buksa:

Bou: "I think Adam is doing a great job. As forwards, we're there to score goals and we honestly have a lot of support for Adam. He hasn't been converting but he's a player we need. He's had some chances and they just haven't gone in and that's something that has happened to me too. But you have to keep working and playing through that and I'm convinced he is going to pull through for us. He's a great player, he's young and he has everything to be a great scorer."

Revolution Midfielder Diego Fagundez

On playing a different role on the left side:

Fagundez: "I think the first thing that Richie said is that we're keeping the ball and play well with Matt Polster. I thought I did that well. I was trying to find the game to get [Cristian] Penilla in and Gustavo [Bou] and Adam [Buksa] involved. I think at the beginning it was a little bit hard because they kept pressuring us and the space wasn't there. I think you noticed before the first half ended Penilla slid to the left and me and Polster were in the middle so we kind of got more space and we were able to attack more. I think that's how we got the goal so I thought in the second half it was smart to do that. But overall it's just a hard game against Red Bulls - they pressure well and they didn't allow us to play our style."

On Matt Polster:

Fagundez: "Matt Polster is a good player. We've played against him plenty of times, especially when he was in Chicago. We know what he brings to the table, he's a hard-working player. Likes to move the ball, likes to play, and I felt very comfortable today with him. We were talking, communicating, and we were able to play with each other to try to move the ball around and try to get the game a good style of flow. At the same time it was hard but I thought we did a good job today and overall we're going to develop chemistry more with whoever's in the middle or after every game you're going to learn mistakes and learn things you're doing well to learn from those things."

On Adam Buksa:

Fagundez: "I think we all know that Adam is a goal-scorer. He has showed us in practice and showed us in games, I think it's one of those things that we're just not scoring a lot of goals right now. We're getting our chances and I think once he starts getting more chances he'll bury them. We all know that he's a scorer we just have to try and get him the ball up there. We know that he likes to get crosses in so if we can play our own style then get it wide to Brandon [Bye] or Alex [Buttner] and have them cross the ball to us or somewhere down the middle, we know he'll be in the box. I just think in this league you have to stay calm and not put a lot of pressure on yourself, especially when you're not scoring because once one goes in you'll get a lot of them. It's one of those things that I bet is frustrating for him but he just needs to keep playing and his chances we'll come."

On Henry Kessler:

Fagundez: "Henry is an awesome guy. I always joke around with him a lot but when he wants to work he's a hard-working player. We know he's a good defensive player and now we're trying to get him to be good on the ball, be calm, and not have to worry. He knows he can play us in the middle, we have good enough players that are around him that we can be moving the ball for him and making his job a lot easier. But defensively, he's been doing a great job. I think we all know that he can stop people one-on-one, he fights every battle in the air. It's just awesome to have someone like that on the backline, especially right next to Andrew Farrell - two hard-working guys who will compete for everything. He just needs to keep going, stay positive, and just keep doing what he's been doing."
