Early Lead Doesn't Hold as Rapids draw Sporting Kansas City

Younes Namli connected with Cole Bassett to put the Rapids up 1-0, but they couldn't hold on the the lead for long before Sporting tied things up. Colorado led in possession, shots and shots on goal and fought for the three points, but the home team walks away with one after a 1-1 tie.

Thanks to two American teenagers, the Colorado Rapids and Sporting Kansas City each took a point home on Saturday night as the two teams drew 1-1 at Dick's Sporting Goods Park

After a first half devoid of many chances, the Rapids struck first in the second half. After a run into the box in the 57th minute, Younes Namli looked to lay off the ball to Diego Rubio. But Rubio let the ball pass by him and Cole Bassett was making a run behind him that allowed the teenager to finish easily past Tim Melia.

Gianluca Busio found his first goal of the season off a corner kick 10 minutes later. The ball was cleared out and the Homegrown had time to set up his shot. He finished near post from outside the box, with Jaylin Lindsey ducking at the last minute, as Rapids 'keeper William Yarbrough could have been a victim of a screen.

Gadi Kinda was shown a second yellow in the 78th minute, but Colorado failed to find a winner up a man.
