Avon, OH - Journalist students at Avon High School will have a unique opportunity to report like the pros. On Friday, February 6, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. the Lake Erie Crushers will hold a press conference at Avon High School to introduce the first players signed by the team.

The students will have the opportunity to participate in the press conference alongside the local media. The team has challenged the students to come prepared with questions and an original angle for a story idea. The team will chose one student-written story to post on the Crushers website. The author of the story will receive a one-day job shadow with the Crushers media relations department on a game day this summer.

"We are excited to be a part of welcoming the Crushers to the Avon Community, and appreciate this unique opportunity provided for our students," said Dr. Chad Coffman, the Principal of Avon High School.

John Massarelli, the Crushers Field Manager, has been busy this off-season scouting for players across the country to build a championship caliber team. The players' names will not be released until the day of the press conference; however they will be present at the event and available for questions. In addition to formally introducing the players, the team owner, Steven Edelson will also reveal the team's official home and away uniforms.

"We are very excited to introduce these talented players to the community," said Massarelli. "They have affiliated baseball experience and are expected to be major role players on our squad. More than that, they are character men and I am proud to have them representing the team on the field and in the community.
