Reno Comes Out Firing From Break, Beats Las Vegas In Series Opener
July 15, 2023 - Pacific Coast League (PCL)
Reno Aces News Release
Las Vegas, NV - Tristin English and the Reno Aces (6-7, 50-38) returned from the break with a bang in a 7-3 win over the Las Vegas Aviators (8-5, 42-45) Friday night at Las Vegas Ballpark.
English drove in two runs with a deep double to right center as part of a four run first inning for Reno. Ryan Bliss, making his Triple-A debut, stole a base and scored in the frame. Bliss went 30-for-38 in steals for Double-A Amarillo and adds a vital dimension to a Reno offense that ranks dead last in Triple-A in stolen bases.
Dominic Fletcher continued his destruction out of the leadoff spot after another well earned stint with the Diamondbacks. Fletcher blasted a two-run homer in the top of the third, expanding the Aces lead to four. Reno's dynamic outfielder tallied multiple hits in his return to the lineup.
Blaze Alexander doubled twice, drove in a run, and stole a bag in the win. Alexander has at least one hit in each of his last five games and has nine extra-base hits since he re-joined the Aces on June 13th (thumb). The 24-year-old shortstop has notched multiple hits in three of his last five games.
The Aces and Aviators continue their three game series Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. PT.
