Reno Aces News Release

Today's Game: Reno returns home for the first time since May 15. The Aces will square off against the Las Vegas 51's and former Aces southpaw Aaron Laffey. Laffey went 5-3 with a 5.42 ERA in 13 starts and 21 appearances. Also in the visitor's dugout, tonight will be outfielder Zach Borenstein. Borenstein played for Reno from 2014 through 2017 and ranks in the Aces top 10 in games played, hits, home runs, and RBI. Alex Young will face the Vegas offense and make the first start of his Triple-A career.

About Last Night: The Reno Aces saw their 3-2 lead fly away Tuesday afternoon in Salt Lake City, losing 5-3. Salt Lake rallied to score one run in the seventh inning and two more in the bottom of the 8th for their 31st win of the season. Ildemaro Vargas and Rey Fuentes did their best to propel the offense, but their four hits were not enough. Silvino Bracho recorded his first blown save and first loss of the season (1.1 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 2 K). The loss sends the Aces back to Greater Nevada Field with a record of 22-31.

Never to Be Done Again: On May 30, 1982, Cal Ripken entered the Orioles' lineup and didn't leave, not until three more presidents were inaugurated and nearly two decades passed. Cal Ripken's 2,632 record of consecutive games streak, which will span 17 seasons, begins with the Oriole rookie going 0-for-2, batting eighth in a 6-0 loss to Toronto at Memorial Stadium. The 21-year-old infielder plays third base, his position for the first 27 games of the streak, before becoming the team's everyday shortstop, en route to surpassing Lou Gehrig's remarkable feat in 1995.

Don't Rub It: Outfielder Cesar Puello was hit by pitch for the 10th time this season yesterday afternoon in Salt Lake. Puello is tied for the league lead with Michael Hermosillo of Salt Lake. In his career, Puello has been hit 149 times. In 2010, he set a career-high with 22 HBP as a member of the Savannah Sand Gnats. Last season, Oswaldo Arcia led the Aces in HBP with 8. The last Aces player to be HBP more than 10 times in a season was Adam Eaton (15) in 2012.

2. Adam Eaton -15 (2012)
