Nashville Sounds News Release
NASHVILLE - The 2018 Battle for the Boot begins tonight as the Nashville Sounds transform into the Nashville Honky Tonks and the Round Rock Express transform into the Round Rock Dance Halls.
Beginning tonight at Dell Diamond in Round Rock, the American Southern Division Rivals start a nine-game series that will conclude with one team claiming the coveted Boot Trophy. The two teams play a five-game series in Round Rock (May 30-June 3) before shifting the rivalry to First Tennessee Park (June 21-24).
"The Battle for the Boot is a great way to showcase Nashville as the one and only Music City," said Sounds General Manager Adam Nuse. "As an organization, we're confident our players and crowd will rise to the occasion and bring the Boot Trophy home to First Tennessee Park."
The games in the real Music City will feature live music with a Broadway atmosphere as the team wears specialty jerseys and hats to complete the Honky Tonks transformation.
Attempts to further the rivalry with added friendly wagers have gone unanswered by the Dance Halls.
Fans can purchase the Honky Tonks Bundle which includes a game ticket to one of the four games in June and a commemorative t-shirt to wear to the game.
The 2018 season is the Sounds' 41st in franchise history and fourth as the Oakland Athletics' top affiliate. Single-game tickets are available now by calling (615) 690-4487 or by visiting www.nashvillesounds.com.
