From the Notes

Against Round Rock: Tonight is the first of 16 meetings between these two American Southern Division rivals. Nashville took the season-series against Round Rock in 2017 by winning nine of the 17 games. Since Round Rock was awarded a franchise in 2005 the two ball clubs have nearly split the 209 games they have played against each other with Nashville winning 105 and Round Rock 104. Nashville is 46-59 all-time against Round Rock at Dell Diamond.

Battle for the Boot: For the second straight season the Honky Tonks and Dance Halls will square off in the Battle for the Boot series. Last season the Dance Halls won both games in the series to claim the Boot Trophy but this year the series is nine-games, five in Round Rock from May 30-June 3 and four in Nashville from June 21-24.

1,000 Innings: Tonight's starter, Eric Jokisch needs to pitch 2.2 more innings to reach the 1,000 mark for his career. He has pitched 983.0 innings in the minors and 14.1 in the majors. 265.2 of his minor league innings have come in a Double-A Tennessee Smokies uniform, more than any other team. He pitched for the Smokies in 2012-13. Jokisch has pitched 472.1 innings at the Triple-A level with Iowa, New Orleans, Round Rock, Reno, and Nashville, all in the Pacific Coast League.

Clutch Sounds: With a run in the ninth inning yesterday the Sounds have now outscored their opponents 11-3 in the ninth inning. It is tied with the sixth inning (32-26) for the largest positive run differential in any inning for the Sounds this season.

Bullish Pen: Bobby Wahl earned the win for the Sounds last night and improved the bullpen's record to 12-3 on the season. Sounds starters are 15-19 with a 4.09 ERA while the bullpen has an ERA of 3.63.

Wonderful Walk Offs: Steve Lombardozzi's RBI single in the ninth inning yesterday provided the Sounds with a fifth walk off victory this season and second this homestand. The Sounds have not been on the wrong end of a walk off this season. In 2017 the Sounds went 8-8 in games decided on a walk off.
