KENDRICK BLASTS TWO AS 'GADES BLANK YANKEES 5-0

Fishkill, NY --- DH Josh Kendrick became the first Renegade to homer twice in a game in 2003 as the Hudson Valley Renegades beat the visiting Staten Island Yankees 5-0 tonight at Dutchess Stadium in a game shortened to seven innings due to the need to complete a suspended game. Tony Peguero (W, 4-3, 2.09) pitched six shutout innings to take the victory. He scattered six hits and struck out seven. Yankees starter T.J. Beam (L, 3-4, 2.86) gave up five runs (four earned) on five hits while fanning three in four innings. The Renegades did all the damage they would need in the 2nd inning, when Kendrick and 3B Kris Dufner connected for back-to-back home runs off Beam. Kendrick's was a two-run shot that scored RF Matt Rico. He added another two-run homer in the 4th and doubled to the right-center field gap in the 6th to complete his three for three, four RBI, two runs, two home run performance. The home runs were Dufner's third of the season and Kendrick's second and third on the year. Tonight's sold-out crowd on Kid's Cheerstix Night, sponsored by Stroehmann Bakeries and Time Warner Cable, also saw the 'Gades and Yankees complete the game suspended on Tuesday, July 22 with one out and a man on first in the bottom of the 11th inning and the score tied 3-3. When play resumed, Staten Island scored two runs in the top of the 12th to take the win, 5-3. Tomorrow night, the Renegades and Yankees return to Richmond County Bank Ballpark on Staten Island. Ryan McCally (0-0, 4.50) takes the mound for the 'Gades; Staten Island's pitcher is unknown at press time. The game will be televised on the YES Network starting at 7 p.m. Following an off day on Tuesday, the Renegades will be back at Dutchess Stadium on Wednesday to take on the Yankees on New York Lottery and WFAN Night. WFAN jockey Sid Rosenberg and New York Lottery spokeswoman Yolanda Vega will be in attendance. RENEGADES COMPLETE SUSPENDED GAME; LOSE TO YANKEES 5-3 Fishkill, NY --- Today at Dutchess Stadium, the Hudson Valley Renegades and Staten Island Yankees completed their suspended game from Tuesday night. The Yankees downed the 'Gades 5-3 in 12 innings as Yanks SS Dave Slevin hit an RBI double and PH Kyle Frank an RBI single in the 12th off Renegades pitcher Andrew Weimer (L, 0-1, 5.40). John Picco (W, 3-1, 7.71) held Hudson Valley down in the 11th to earn the win and Paul Thorp worked around a leadoff walk to DH John Jaso and single by RF Matt Rico to earn his third save of the season. The game was resumed today with one out in the bottom of the 11th inning, SS Aneudi Cuevas at the plate for the 'Gades, and 3B Kris Dufner on first base. Today's regularly scheduled game between the Yankees and the Renegades will start at 6:05 p.m. Tony Peguero (3-3, 2.43) will start for the 'Gades against T.J. Beam (1-0, 1.85) of Staten Island.
