Hudson Valley Renegades News Release

Fishkill, NY --- The visiting Brooklyn Cyclones handed the Hudson Valley Renegades their fourth consecutive defeat by a 9-0 margin in front of 4,159 fans tonight at Dutchess Stadium. Four Brooklyn pitchers combined to blank the 'Gades on just three hits. Starter Vinny Cordova (2-2, 1.07) gave up three hits and two walks while striking out six in five innings to earn the victory. Renegades starter Aaron Gangi (4-2, 2.67) took the loss.

The McNamara Division-leading Cyclones got the night started in a big way as CF Rashad Parker led off the game with his second home run of the season. Leading 4-0 after four innings, Brooklyn put the game away with a four-run outburst in the top of the fifth. RF Tyler Davidson struck the biggest blow with a two-run double, scoring LF Andy Wilson and 3B Brett Harper. Davidson finished 3 for 5 with two RBI, two runs scored and a stolen base to pace the Cyclones. Parker went 3 for 6 with an RBI, two runs scored, and a home run. SS Aneudi Cuevas was the only Renegade to record two hits, including his 12th double of the season.

Both bullpens pitched well in tonight's game. For the 'Gades, Kirk Gosch allowed one hit and struck out four in two innings of mop-up duty while Brooklyn pitchers Rafael Castro, David Smith, and Adam Walker combined to pitch four perfect innings of relief.

The Renegades and Cyclones wrap up their two-game set at Dutchess Stadium tomorrow night on Joe Kennedy Bobblehead Night, sponsored by Hannaford Food & Drug and WPDH. The first 3,000 fans in attendance will receive the souvenir likeness of the Tampa Bay Devil Rays pitcher who helped lead the Renegades to the 1999 New York-Penn League championship. The Couch Potato contest, in which men 18 and older will compete to win a new TV set and recliner, has also been rescheduled from an earlier date for tomorrow night. Starting pitchers are unknown at press time. First pitch is scheduled for 7:11 p.m.
