
Renegades lose sloppy game

Fishkill, NYâ The Hudson Valley Renegades were defeated last night by the Tri-City ValleyCats 6-4 at Dutchess Stadium in front of a crowd of 3,840. The Renegades remain 1 ½ games behind the Brooklyn Cyclones for first place in the McNamara Division of the New York-Penn League but remain the leader in the wild card standings.
Tri-City jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the third, scoring three unearned runs on a Renegade error.
The Renegades added two of their own runs in the bottom of the inning scoring on pair of RBI singles from SS Salvador Paredes and 2B Josh Asanovich.
The ValleyCats scored again in the sixth, this time on two Renegades errors, making it four unearned runs for the ValleyCats on the night, but again the Renegades bounced back scoring an unearned run of their own in the bottom of the inning in this very sloppy game.
The ValleyCats scored their first earned run of the game in the top of the seventh on a RBI ground out from CF Hunter Pence.
Again the Renegades came right back scoring in the bottom of the eighth on DH Pat Breen's RBI single.
In the ninth, the ValleyCats scored again on a wild pitch increasing their lead to 6-4, ending the scoring on the night.
Brandon Mann (L, 2-3) started the game for the Renegades pitching six innings, surrendering five hits and four runs, but none were earned. He also struck out six and walked one.
Ryan McKeller (W, 3-3) got the win for the ValleyCats. He pitched 5 1/3 innings, allowing four hits and two earned runs while striking out two and walking three. Paul Estrada (S, 6) earned the save pitching one inning allowing one hit and striking out one.
The Renegades and ValleyCats play the rubber game of their three game series tomorrow at Dutchess Stadium. Scheduled to pitch for the Renegades is LHP Matt Cobb (2-4, 4.37) and RHP Ronnie Martinez (7-1, 2.00) for the ValleyCats. First pitch is scheduled for 7:11 PM.
