WAPPINGERS FALLS, N.Y. - Jasson Domínguez and Trey Sweeney lifted the Hudson Valley Renegades offense in a 4-0 win over the Aberdeen IronBirds on Wednesday night at Dutchess Stadium.
Domínguez finished 2-for-3 with a triple, a single, a walk, a stolen base and two runs scored, while Sweeney went 1-for-3 with a solo homer, a walk and two runs scored.
Hudson Valley jumped ahead in the bottom of the first against Aberdeen starter Chayce McDermott (6-2). Domínguez tripled and came home on a wild pitch to give the Renegades a 1-0 lead.
In the bottom of the third, Sweeney crushed a no-doubter to right field to extend the lead to 2-0.
Renegades starter Juan Carela (1-0) dazzled in his first Dutchess Stadium start, firing 5.2 shutout innings, allowing only three hits, walking one and striking out two.
Hudson Valley added insurance in the bottom of the eighth. Sweeney walked, Domínguez singled - advancing Sweeney to third - and stole second, setting up an Anthony Seigler sacrifice fly. During following at-bat, Domínguez raced home on a passed ball to create a 4-0 cushion.
Edgar Barclay and Ryan Miller combined for 3.1 shutout innings out of the Renegades bullpen, allowing only one hit, walking one and striking out three to secure the victory.
Hudson Valley continues its six-game series with the Aberdeen IronBirds on Thursday night at Dutchess Stadium.
