Renegades Annouce CFL Award Nominees

OTTAWA â The Ottawa Renegades Football Club is pleased to announce the names of the team's players nominated for Canadian Football League awards.
The Ottawa nominees are:
Linebacker John Grace (Outstanding Player and Outstanding Defensive Player)
Running back Josh Ranek (Outstanding Rookie)
Offensive tackle Seth Dittman (Outstanding Lineman)
Linebacker Kelly Wiltshire (Outstanding Canadian)
Long snapper Steve Glenn (Outstanding Special Teams Player)
Grace leads the CFL with eight forced fumbles (five more than any other player). He ranks second on the club with 65 tackles and is tied for the league lead with five fumble recoveries. Grace is also one of nine CFL players to record a blocked punt this season. Acquired by Ottawa during the expansion draft from Montreal, Grace has established himself as a top CFL defender. He also has four quarterback sacks for the Renegades this season.
Ranek joined the club as a free agent in July to substitute for injured running back Darren Davis and established a strong presence in the Ottawa backfield. The 24-year-old native of South Dakota leads the Renegades with 690 rushing yards and contributes to the passing game (49 catches for 456 yards).
Dittman, a 30-year-old Stanford graduate, joined the club from the Hamilton Tiger-Cats through the expansion draft and has continued his consistent play on the offensive line during his first season with the Renegades. The Tigard, Oregon native is considered one of the most mature players on the squad and is regarded as a team leader.
Wiltshire, a native of Montreal, leads the Renegades with 74 defensive tackles, ranking sixth in the CFL. The 30-year-old has never missed a game since his rookie season with Toronto in 1997 (a streak of 106 consecutive games).
Glenn, a 31-year-old native of Ottawa, performs long snaps on Renegades special teams plays. He signed with the Renegades as a free agent in May after spending the 2001 season with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
The Ottawa chapter of the Football Reporters of Canada Association voted for the Ottawa nominees for the CFL Awards. The selections of Grace, Dittman and Wiltshire in their respective categories were unanimous.
The league will announce finalists (one from each division in each award category) for the CFL Awards early next month.
The CFL Awards will be presented during Grey Cup Week on Nov. 21 in Edmonton.
