CFL Names Players of the Week
Published on October 23, 2002 under Canadian Football League (CFL) News Release
CFL Offensive Player-of-the-Week
Milt Stegall #85
WR â Winnipeg Blue Bombers
Stegall made 6 receptions for 106 yards and caught 3 TD passes. With his 3 TD's he set a CFL record for most pass reception TD's in one season by a single player (previously held by Allan Pitts).
Game: #79 â Winnipeg Blue Bombers 35 at Calgary Stampeders 20
"He used exceptional body control to change speeds and to accelerate in and out of cuts. In the 'Red Zone' he appeared to sense where the safety would come from and slid away from the area. His sensational game-long effort was the tonic the Bombers needed to pull out the victory."
Runners Up: Winnipeg Blue Bombers - RB Charles Roberts #1
Hamilton Tiger-Cats - RB Troy Davis #32
CFL Player of the Week Judge: Ellison Kelly
CFL Defensive Player-of-the-Week
Adrion Smith #12
CB â Toronto Argonauts
Smith accumulated 6 tackles, 1 interception, and displayed outstanding back field play in Week 17.
Game: #82 â Ottawa Renegades 12 at Toronto Argonauts 29
"Adrion played a major role in a sound team defence that kept the Argos in control. He played the game with his head by reading formations and reacting to what he saw. His ball hawking skills were impressive. At times he used that skill to bait the QB into making poor throws."
Runners Up: Calgary Stampeders - LB Alondra Johnson #51
Hamilton Tiger-Cats - S Rob Hitchcock #42
CFL Player of the Week Judge: Ellison Kelly
CFL Players-of-the-Week - Week 17 ....
CFL Lineman-of-the-Week
Nathan Davis #98
DL â Saskatchewan Roughriders
Davis made 5 tackles, knocked down 2 passes, blocked a field goal attempt, and put a tremendous amount of pressure on the QB.
Game: #80 - British Columbia Lions 11 at Saskatchewan Roughriders 13
"The O-Line couldn't handle big Nate. He put on a show of dominant defensive line play. He made rag dolls out of would be blockers and shut down the middle rushing lane. Nate was an unsettling presence in the Lions' backfield. "
Runners Up: Montreal Alouettes - DE Adriano Belli #78
Hamilton Tiger-Cats - DT Larry Fitzpatrick #98
CFL Player of the Week Judge: Ellison Kelly
CFL Special Teams Player-of-the-Week

Toronto Argonauts - K Noel Prefontaine #1
CFL Player of the Week Judge: Ellison Kelly
