
Reign Quiet The Thunder In 6-2 Win

ONTARIO, Calif. - Right wing Maxime Boisclair netted two power play goals and four additional Reign players found the net for the Reign Sunday evening, as they took the, 6-2, win over the Stockton Thunder in front of 4,306 fans at Citizens Business Bank Arena. Goaltender John Murray blocked 28 of the 30 shots faced in th match and the Reign extended their win streak to five games.
The Ontario Reign (17-9-1-1) took control of the match early, taking a 4-0, lead over the Stockton Thunder (10-14-2-2), netting two goals in each of the first two periods. Reign left wing Chris Curran started off the scoring for the Reign, netting the puck on a one-timer from right wing Geoff Walker and center Tim Kraus at 9:53 in the first. Six minutes later, right wing Brad Mehalko made it, 2-0, getting the puck past Thunder goaltender Andrew Perugini at 16:06, scoring his fifth goal of the season. Left wing Ryan MacGregor and center Tim Kraus registered the assists with Kraus tallying his second of the night.
Right wing Maxime Boisclair scored a pair of power play goals for the Reign in the second, extending the lead to four over the Thunder. Boisclair registered his fifth goal of the season at 4:42 in the stanza, with left wing Todd Jackson and defenseman Andrew Martens, in his first game back from the AHL, picking up the assists. Two minutes later, Boisclair lit the lamp again on the power play, getting the puck past Perugini and widening the lead to, 4-0, off assists from Andrew Martens and center Jon Francisco at the 6:50 mark. Stockton got on the board late in the third, with left wing Mike Lalonde netting the club's first goal of the night at 14:08, sending the teams into the third with a score, 4-1, in favor of the Reign.
The third period brought about a special teams battle, with the clubs' three combined goals all scored on the power play. Stockton's defenseman Cody Wild brought the game within two, scoring his first goal of the season just nineteen seconds into the stanza, pushing the score to, 4-2. However, the Reign continued to flood the Thunder net as captain Jon Francisco put the Reign ahead, 5-2, just four minutes later. Francisco registered his team-leading eleventh goal of the season, with defenseman Chad Starling and right wing Geoff Walker notching the assists at 4:04. Defenseman Andrew Martens' slapshot from the top of the right face-off circle, on a two-man advantage, gave the Reign a four-goal lead over the Thunder at 10:24. Jon Francisco and Brad Mehalko each registered an assist on the play, helping the Reign to a, 6-2, lead with ten minutes remaining in the match. The Reign held on to their commanding lead until the final buzzer, ending the match with a final score Ontario, 6, Stockton, 2.

The Reign head to Phoenix to face-off against the Roadrunners on Saturday, December 27, before heading to Fresno and taking on the Falcons on Sunday, December 28. The Reign return to home ice on Friday, January 2, as they meet up with the Idaho Steelheads at 7 p.m.
