Seattle Reign FC News Release
SEATTLE - Seattle Reign FC played to a 1-1 draw against the China PR Women's National Team in an international friendly on Friday, May 22 in front of a crowd of 4,021 attendees on the Moda Pitch at Memorial Stadium.
In a match that also served as a send-off for Seattle's pair of U.S. Women's National Team players - goalkeeper Hope Solo and forward Megan Rapinoe - Reign FC played a China PR side preparing to compete at the FIFA Women's World Cup even early.
After a scoreless 30 minutes, China PR notched the first goal of the match at the 36-minute mark as a ball from 30 yards out skipped through a scrum of players and past goalkeeper Haley Kopmeyer.
Bringing the second half to a start in the 48th minute, midfielder Kim Little crossed a free kick from outside the 18-yard line to the head of forward Beverly Yanez to bring the score even.
The friendly was Seattle's first against a national side since a 6-0 win over Haiti at Starfire Stadium in Tukwila in June 2013.
With the team's reprieve from league play now complete, Reign FC gets back to NWSL action next weekend with a home game next Saturday, May 30 against the Chicago Red Stars. That game is set for a 7 p.m. start on the Moda Pitch at Memorial Stadium.
