Preview: FC Kansas City Hosts the Chicago Red Stars

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (May 22, 2015) - FC Kansas City returns home this Saturday night when the Blues host the undefeated and first place Chicago Red Stars at Swope Soccer Village. The match will be streamed live on YouTube and will kick off at 7:00 p.m. CT. Great tickets are still available and can be purchased online or by phone at 855-4KC-GOAL.

Chicago and Kansas City will meet for the first time in 2015. However, both teams have squared off a total of seven times in league history with the All-time series tied 3-3-1. The last time the Red Stars visited the Blues, midfielder Jen Buczkowski's lone goal gave FC Kansas City a 1-0 win at Durwood Stadium on June 21, 2014.

Currently, the Red Stars are not only first in the NWSL standings but they are also the last undefeated team in the league with an overall record of 3-0-2, 11 points. In addition, forward Sofia Huerta became the first player in league history to earn back-to-back Player of the Week honors with four goals and one assist in Chicago's last two games.

On the other hand, the Blues are coming from a hard fought scoreless tie against the Western New York Flash last Thursday in a game that saw rookie goalkeeper Katelyn Rowland record her first career clean sheet and professional appearance. FC Kansas City has not allowed a goal in their last four matches.

Representing the U.S.A. at the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup will be Kansas City's Amy Rodriguez, Lauren Holiday, Heather O'Reilly and Becky Sauerbrunn as well as Chicago's Julie Johnston, Lori Chalupny, Shannon Box and Christen Press. In addition, the Red Stars will be without Canada's Karina LeBlanc, Melissa Tancredi, and Adriana Leon.

Following this match, FC Kansas City will visit the Boston Breakers in the first of a three-game road trip on Saturday, May 30.
