Seattle Reign FC News Release

SEATTLE (July 3, 2015) - Seattle Reign FC (5-2-3, 18 pts) extended its league unbeaten streak to seven games with a tie on the road against Western New York Flash (4-4-2, 14 pts) on Friday, July 3 at Sahlen's Stadium in Rochester, N.Y.

Midfielder Kim Little scored her fourth goal in four games during the second half to solidify a point for the traveling side.

Reign FC were forced to defend much of the first half as Western New York maintained possession and created numerous opportunities.

Goalkeeper Haley Kopmeyer made three saves through the first 45 minutes of play, including a diving effort in the 22nd minute to deny midfielder Becky Edwards a goal.

While the Flash dominated much of the match, it was Reign FC to open the scoring in the 55th minute after Jess Fishlock was brought down in the box. Little finished the penalty, sending Flash goalkeeper Chantel Jones the wrong way, to give Reign FC the 1-0 lead.

The Flash continued to push for an equalizer throughout the second half and their tenacity paid off in the 81st minute. Defender Elizabeth Eddy drove toward the end line before slotting it back for forward Lynn Williams who finished it one time from six yards out to tie the game at 1-1.

Despite some last gasp attempts by the Flash to find all three points, the match would end knotted up at 1-1.

The draw pushes Reign FC's current unbeaten run to seven matches, a stretch that has occurred while Seattle has been without its pair of U.S. Women's National Team players, forward Megan Rapinoe and goalkeeper Hope Solo.

Seattle now has 18 points in the NWSL standings, tied for first place in the league with the Chicago Red Stars.

Friday's game was the second of three matchups between Reign FC and the Flash. During the first meeting on the Moda Pitch at Memorial Stadium on April 12, Seattle defeated the Flash 5-1 behind a Rapinoe hat-trick.

Reign FC will now head back to Seattle for its third and final matchup of the regular season with Western New York Flash. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. That match will also serve as the homecoming for United States Women's National Team goalkeeper Hope Solo and forward Megan Rapinoe.
