GREENVILLE, SC- Ty Reichenbach stopped all 46 shots faced to lead the Norfolk Admirals to a 3-0 victory over the Greenville Swamp Rabbits Friday Night at The Bon Secours Wellness Arena.
Norfolk got on the board just over four minutes into the first period. Luke Nogard pushed the puck from the edge of the right circle to the right point for Jake Wood. Wood shot the puck from the point, which took a lively off the boards along the back wall. The rebound came out to the left side of the net, where Matt McMorrow was there to bury a chance behind Chris Nell to give Norfolk an early 1-0 lead.
The Admirals extended their lead to two goals with a tally from Captain Dominic Alberga. Darik Angeli received a pass on the right-side skating into the Greenville zone from Chase Harrison. Angeli skated into the right circle and dropped a pass back for Alberga. Alberga shot the puck from in the right circle that beat Nell on the stick side to give Norfolk a 2-0 lead.
Reichenbach was stellar throughout the entire contest, turning aside every Greenville shooter. In the closing moments of the game, Jalen Smereck added an empty-net goal to seal the 3-0 shutout win.
Ty Reichenbach stopped all 46 shots he faced and claims his 13th win of the year for Norfolk, while Chris Nell made 29 saves on 31 shots and takes the loss for Greenville. Captain Dominic Alberga scored a goal, and added an assist, in his return from AHL Tucson. Matt McMorrow also added a goal for Norfolk. With the win, Norfolk now only sits four points back of idle Orlando for the fourth and final playoff spot in the South Division with a record of (17-21-2-3 39 Points).
