Dayton Dragons News Release

Dayton, Ohio-The Dayton Dragons announced today that Cincinnati Reds reliever David Weathers is scheduled to pitch for the Dragons on Friday, May 2nd at Fifth Third Field on a major league injury rehabilitation assignment. The Dragons will host the Burlington Bees at 7:05 p.m.

Weathers may also pitch for the Dragons on Saturday in a 7:05 p.m. game against Burlington at Fifth Third Field.

Weathers went on the Reds disabled list with a sore right elbow on April 20th, and he is eligible to be activated from the D.L. on Monday. Weathers pitched a scoreless inning for Triple-A Louisville on Tuesday, April 29th.

Weathers is on the disabled list for just the second time in his 19-year major league career. The diagnosis was ulnar nerve inflammation in his right elbow.

Weathers has appeared in eight games with the Reds this season, going 0-2 with a 4.91 earned run average. He posted 33 saves for the Reds last season to rank seventh in the National League.

Weathers entered this season ranked 34th on major league baseball's all-time career appearances list. He has pitched in 832 big league games.

Major league players assigned to minor league teams on injury rehabilitation assignments do not count toward the minor league club's roster limit, so the Dragons will not need to make a corresponding roster move.

The Dragons host Burlington Friday (7:05), Saturday (7:05), and Sunday (2:00). The homestand continues through May 11th with 10 games on 10 consecutive dates. For ticket information, call (937) 228-2287.
