RedHawks Win Fifth Straight, 3-2 over Omaha

Papillion, Neb. - Ryan Rowland-Smith allowed one run over six and one-thirds innings, while late runs led the Oklahoma City RedHawks (13-15) to a 3-2 win over the Omaha Storm Chasers (16-12) before 5,836 Friday night at Werner Park.
The RedHawks have won five consecutive games, with four of the wins coming by one run.
Rowland-Smith (1-2) allowed a second inning run and seven hits with no walks and four strikeouts in his first winning decision of 2011. Major League veteran Jeff Suppan allowed two runs, both on solo home runs, and four total hits over six innings in a losing decision. Sergio Escalona (2) allowed a ninth inning run, but still collected the save.
Omaha opened the scoring in the second inning. Lorenzo Cain led off with a double, moved to third on a Lance Zawadzki single and scored on a two-out double from Paulo Orlando for a 1-0 lead.
The RedHawks were held to two scattered hits over the first five innings against Suppan, before breaking through in the sixth inning. With one out, Collin Delome blasted a solo home run to straightaway center field, tying the score at 1-1. With two out, Brian Dopirak lined a home run into the left field seats, opening a 2-1 Oklahoma City lead.
Oklahoma City added a third run in the seventh inning, unearned against reliever Robinson Tejeda. Robinson Cancel singled, moved to second on a passed ball, advanced to third on a groundout and scored on two-out fielding error by shortstop Irving Falu for a 3-1 lead.
In the ninth inning Omaha's Clint Robinson singled, moved to second on indifference and scored on a two-out single by Zawadzki for a 3-2 score. Lucas May next popped out to end the game, leaving the tying run at third and possible winning run at first.
