New Orleans Baby Cakes News Release

METAIRIE— Redhawks The RedHawks went to work early Saturday night with a three run double off the bat of First baseman Jason Hart with the bases loaded in the first. The Zephyrs answered with one in the bottom of the first when Catcher Alan Zinter hit a solo home run off of RedHawks starter Colby Lewis (5-1). But the RedHawks bats continued to stay hot adding one run in the third, one in the eighth, and five in the ninth to seal their third victory in a row at Zephyr Field.

RedHawks starter Colby Lewis allowed three runs on five hits to pick up his fifth victory of the season and Ray Beasley finished off the Z's allowing 2 runs on three hits to pick up save number two. Zephyrs starter Ken Vining (3-3) pitched four and two-thirds innings for the Z's while picking up the loss. The Zephyrs mounted a comeback in the ninth when Henri Stanley hit his sixth homerun of the season with one man on to cut the lead to 10-5. Royce Huffman and Alan Zinter followed with singles, but Raul Chavez hit into a Fielder's choice to end the Z's chances. The deciding factor proved to be Jermaine Clark's pinch-hit three run homer in the top of the ninth off of Eric Cammack that landed in the right field pool to put the game out of reach.

The series with the RedHawks continues on Sunday at 5:05 PM. Tomorrow is Kids Day with the kids having the opportunity to run the bases after the game. The wild and zany Zooperstars will perform throughout the game. The game can be heard on WTIX-AM 690 and at www.zephyrsbaseball.com with Tim Grubbs and Ron Swoboda calling the action. For more information call the Zephyrs office at (504) 734-5155.
