Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks News Release

FARGO, ND - The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks crept within a ½ game of the first-place Gary SouthShore RailCats with a 5-2 win over the Kansas City T-Bones Monday evening at Newman Outdoor Field. The RedHawks drew first blood in the home half of the second inning. 3B Jeremiah Piepkorn knocked out a 0-1 offering from T-Bones starter LHP Ryan Knippschild to give the RedHawks a 1-0 lead.

Knippschild plunked RedHawks LF Justin Justice and RF Mike Coles cracked a single to push Justice to second. Knippschild induced a fielder's choice from SS Zach Penprase before CF Nic Jackson singled Justice home.

With the infield drawn-in and DH Donzell McDonald at the plate, Penprase and Jackson double-stole second and third. McDonald drew the walk and 1B Ruben Salazar plated Penprase to make it 3-0.

Weitzman issued a four-pitch walk to 1B Damian Rolls and CF Luis Terrero poked a ball through the left-hole to push Rolls to second. DH Jim Fasano caromed a ball off the right-field wall for an RBI double. 3B Jacob Blackwood lifted an opposite-field sac fly to make it 3-2.

In the fourth, C Alan Rick hit an at-em' ball to Rolls, who was unable to field it cleanly. 2B Carlo Cota doubled Rick to third and Justice lifted a right-field sac fly to make it 4-2 for the home team.
