FARGO, N.D. - Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks SS Zach Penprase hit his first professional grand-slam and the RedHawks defeated the Schaumburg Flyers 8-3 in front of 4,059 fans at Newman Outdoor Field Saturday night. The RedHawks improve to 32-27 and the Flyers fall to 28-33.

RedHawks CF Nic Jackson opened the scoring in the first with a two-out solo shot for his 13th home run of the season. Flyers 1B Jeff Dunbar doubled to left and reached third on a wild pitch. DH Craig Maddox tied it at one with an RBI groundout.

1B Randall Simon and LF Justin Justice teamed-up for a pair of singles to lead-off the second. With one out and runners at first and third, C Alan Rick singled Simon home. Flyers starter LHP Alain Quijano plunked RF Mike Coles to push Justice home and SS Zach Penprase a second-inning grand-slam to cap the RedHawks six-run second.

In the sixth, Flyers SS Travis Brown doubled to the left-center gap, scored on a wild pitch and the Flyers crept within four runs.

RedHawks starter LHP Jeff Icenogle (1-0) pitched 6.0 innings, gave-up three runs (all earned) and fanned five for his first victory in a RedHawks uniform. Flyers starter LHP Alain Quijano (3-3) pitched 6.0 innings, gave-up seven runs (all earned) and loses his third game of the season.

The RedHawks and Flyers play in the rubber-match game tomorrow at Newman Outdoor Field. LHP Broc Coffman (6-4, 5.73) will head to the hill for the RedHawks. RHP Edwin Almonte (4-7, 5.24) will toe the rubber for the Flyers. Game time is 1:00 p.m.
