RedHawks Sign Former Bison Pitcherernst

FARGO, N.D. - The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks have signed former North Dakota State University RHP David Ernst and placed RHP Evan Englebrook on the Disabled List retroactive to June 22. Ernst will be in uniform tonight as the RedHawks continue a four-game series against the Winnipeg Goldeyes at Newman Outdoor Field.

Ernst, 22, was 2-10 with a 5.28 ERA in 16 starts for the Bison this spring. He pitched 87.0 innings and allowed 73 runs (51 earned) on 112 hits. He strick out 49 batters and walked 41. A Fargo native and Fargo South High School graduate, Ernst was drafted out of high school in the 47th round of the 2011 draft but did not sign.

In his college career, Ernst was 18-20 with a 4.04 ERA in 60 games (53 starts). As a junior, Ernst was named to the All-Summit League 2nd Team as he was 5-5 with a 3.60 ERA and led the Bison to the Summit League Post-Season Championship and a berth in the NCAA Tournament. In the Tournament, Ernst nearly pitched the Bison to an upset victory over the No. 1 seed in the tournament, Oregon State University. He pitched 7.1 innings and allowed just two runs on ten hits while striking out a season-high six batters as the Bison fell 2-1.
