RedHawks Sign Englebrook, Release Blough

FARGO, N.D. - The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks have signed RHP Evan Englebrook and released RHP Bryan Blough. The RedHawks continue their seven-game homestand today with a 12:30 p.m. game against the Sioux Falls Canaries at Newman Outdoor Field.

Englebrook, 33, had been playing this season in the independent Shikoku Island League in Japan for the past three months before recently returning to the United States. Last season, he appeared in eight games for the Lancaster Barnstormers of the Atlantic League, where he was 1-1 with a 1.86 ERA and two saves.

Englebrook began his professional career in 2004 after being selected by the Houston Astros in the eighth round of that year's draft out of Shippensburg (PA) University. He advanced to the Round Rock Express of the Pacific Coast League (Triple-A) in 2009 and 2010 and also spent the 2012 season in the Toronto Blue Jays organization.

In his ten year professional career, Englebrook is 31-28 with a 4.00 ERA and 20 saves. He has pitched 563.0 innings and allowed 297 runs (250 earned) on 532 hits. Englebrook has recorded 462 strikeouts and walked 261.

Blough was 1-2 with a 7.06 ERA in eight games (two starts) for the RedHawks this season.
