Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks News Release

FARGO, N.D. - The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks (48-35) had the most hits by an American Association team in 2021 (26) and scored 20 runs, tied for the 2021 AA high, in a 20-2 win over the Kane County Cougars (38-44) on Wednesday night. Eight different RedHawks' batters had multiple hits and six batters had a home run in the win.

Fargo-Moorhead scored at least one run in every inning and set their season highs in runs (20), hits (26), extra-base hits (12), and home runs (6) in the win. John Silviano (2-for-6, 4 RBIs), Jordan George (3-for-5, walk, 2 runs scored, 3 RBIs), Sam Dexter (3-for-6, 2 runs scored, 4 RBIs), Kevin Krause (2-for-5, 2 runs scored, 4 RBIs), and Bret Helton (1-for-1, 2 RBIs) each had at least one home run in the win. Helton's home run was the first by a Fargo-Moorhead pitcher since Michael Hope hit a two-run home run on July 26, 2019 against the Lincoln Saltdogs.

RHP Ryan Flores (8-2) started for Fargo-Moorhead and allowed only two runs on five hits while striking out seven batters in six innings pitched and got the win. RHP Austin Ver Steeg, LHP Tyler Grauer, and RHP Logan Nissen each pitched one inning and allowed a combined five hits and a walk in the three innings. The trio didn't allow a run while Grauer and Nissen each struck out one batter.

Kane County had solo home runs from Mark Karaviotis in the third inning and Anfernee Seymour in the fourth. The Cougars had 10 hits and two walks but left 10 men on base in the loss.

RHP Ben Allison (3-4) started the game for Kane County but did not last long, as he allowed nine runs (eight earned) on 12 hits in just three innings pitched. RHP Andrew Stout replaced Allison and fared just as well, as he allowed seven runs on eight hits and a walk in two innings pitched. The Cougars then used three position players (Nick Lovullo, Brandon Chinea, and Anfernee Seymour) over the last three innings of the game. Every Kane County pitcher gave up a run and two hits in the game.

Oddly enough, the win comes exactly 25 years to the date after the RedHawks defeated the Madison Black Wolf 20-2 on Aug. 18, 1996 at Warner Park in Madison.

The RedHawks and Cougars will complete their season series with a 12:30 p.m. game tomorrow afternoon at Newman Outdoor Field. LHP Matt Tomshaw (1-0, 0.00 ERA) will start for Fargo-Moorhead and will face LHP Josh Tols (3-5, 4.02 ERA).
