FARGO, N.D. - Fargo-Moorhead's leadoff hitters led the way home on Monday as the RedHawks beat the Rockford RiverHawks, 10-4, at Newman Outdoor Field.
In seven of Fargo's eight offensive innings, its leadoff hitter reached base. Five of those seven scored. Mike Coles led off the first inning with a walk, stole second base and scored on an error by Rockford first baseman Travis Scott. In the second inning, Alan Rick led off with a walk and scored on a double by John Krause. With two outs, Cory Patton singled in two and scored on a dropped pop fly to give the RedHawks a 5-0 lead.
The RiverHawks rallied for four runs in the third inning. An error and two walks loaded the bases for Patrick O'Sullivan. The veteran designated hitter ripped a double to left field to clear the bases. Rich Austin doubled him home.
