TONIGHT: The RedHawks wrap up their regular season road schedule with the fifth and final game of this series in Albuquerque. After a 10-4 win last night, Albuquerque leads the series 3-1 and the season series 9-6. The Isotopes have won 5 of the 7 games between these clubs in Albuquerque. The RedHawks have been out-scored 24-6 in the first 4 innings so far this series. OKC is 4-4 on this trip. The RedHawks return home tomorrow to being a regular season-ending 8-day, 9-game homestand against Nashville and Omaha. OKC leads Albuquerque by 3 games in the American South with a magic number of 8.
5-4-3: The RedHawks' division lead has dipped from 5 to 3 games with losses the past two nights. OKC's magic number remains 8. OKC and Albuquerque have each had a game cancelled with no makeup, so they will play 143 games barring further postponements.
FEAST OR FAMINE CONTINUES: The winning team in each game this series has collected at least 14 hits. The RedHawks had 15 hits on Thursday in an 8-1 win, while the Isotopes amassed 14 hits (5 doubles, 5 homers) on Wednesday, 18 (7 doubles, 2 homers) on Friday and 14 (3 doubles, 4 homers) last night. The RedHawks have been out-homered 11-3 in this series.
IRIBARREN SETS CAREER HIGHS: Hernan Iribarren has homered in back-to-back games, delivering a solo shot last night. He has 8 homers, with last night's his first solo of the year. His previous career high in home runs was 5 set in 2004. His 67 RBIs are a season high, surpassing the previous mark set last year (54 with Nashville, 1 with Milwaukee). Iribarren has hit safely in 21 of his last 23 games dating to Aug. 5, going 36-for-88 (.409) with 5 homers and 20 RBIs in that span. Since Aug. 5, Iribarren has the PCL's fifth-best batting average.
HOLLAND PITCHES AS SCHEDULED: Last night's scheduled OKC starter, Derek Holland, was recalled during the day by Texas when Frank Francisco was placed on the DL with a strained right lat muscle Holland tossed 4.2 innings for Texas in relief of Rich Harden last night in a 5-0 loss to Oakland, matching the longest Texas relief appearance of the season. Holland was charged with 1 run while not getting a decision.
ODDS AND ENDS: Catcher Kevin Richardson pitched the eighth and final inning last night, allowing a leadoff single and nothing else. It was OKC's first position player pitching appearance since Casey Benjamin threw a scoreless inning against Omaha April 21, 2009...OKC, featuring the league's best ERA at 3.96, had allowed double-digit runs just 5 times all season until this series...it has allowed double digits 3 times this series.
