Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks News Release

FARGO, ND - T.J. Bennett went out with a bang in his final professional game on Friday night as the RedHawks erased a seven-run deficit in the final four innings to come from behind and beat the Sioux Falls Canaries 11-10 in front of a sellout crowd of 4,510 fans at Newman Outdoor Field.

Offense was the name of the game in tonight's matchup. The two teams combined for 21 runs on 29 hits with against eight combined pitchers.

The Canaries got the scoring started early with an RBI single from Kevin Taylor in the top of the first. The RedHawks tied the game at one in the second when Correlle Prime stole home on a throw to second. Prime came around to score again in the fourth inning to give Fargo-Moorhead a 2-1 lead.

The Canaries offense notched five of their ten runs in the fifth inning on four hits, two RedHawks errors, two walks and a wild pitch. Their 6-2 lead became a 9-2 cushion when the visitors added three more runs in the sixth inning.

The RedHawks proved they're never out of a game no matter how large the deficit with nine runs over three innings on 10 hits, none larger than Chris Jacobs' bases loaded 3-RBI double in the eighth to give Fargo-Moorhead a 10-9 lead and complete the comeback. Correlle Prime singled Jacobs in one batter later to add on the one insurance run Geoff Broussard needed to collect his twenty-fourth save of the season.

Michael Hope came on in relief in the eighth inning, was the only pitcher to not allow a run tonight, and pitched well enough to pick up his fifth win of the season.

The RedHawks remain four games ahead of the St. Paul Saints atop the American Association's North Division standings.

The RedHawks (55-29) and Canaries (34-49) will finish off their three game series at 2:00 PM on Saturday at Newman Outdoor Field before Gary comes to Fargo for three more games.
